Do I need a partner to learn to dance?
plus icon

No!  As a matter of fact, those people who take individual lessons and learn to dance with an instructor first often learn faster, and learn their part better.  For a single person the entire lesson is focused on their dancing, rather than split between two people.  Even when a couple comes in for lessons they are encouraged to have a “split” lesson every so often where each of them dance with an instructor for their lesson and work on their own dancing.  Partnership is beneficial as well, but this is why it’s important to come to dances and group classes to experience dancing with different people and improve your leading/following skills.

I have two left feet, what's the best way for me to learn to dance?

If you can walk, you can dance!  The best way to learn to dance is to take Private Dance Lessons.  These lessons give you personalized instruction at your level, focused on what you are interested in learning.  Along with the private lessons you will get a chance to attend group classes and parties to integrate into the dance community and practice what you're learning.  Click here to schedule your Introductory Private Dance Lesson.

How long does it take to learn to dance?
plus icon

There are many factors that determine how long it takes you as an individual to learn to dance.  After 1 private lesson you will be exposed to some of the basic movements and steps.  If you keep private lessons close together (2-5x per week), you will continue to learn at a fast rate and should become comfortable with basics within 10 lessons.  In order to go out social dancing with a few steps in each dance (depending on how fast you learn) could take 6 months - 1 year.  Then there are those of us who truly love dancing and choose to continue learning as a lifelong hobby & journey.

What do I wear when coming to the studio?
plus icon

CLOTHES - People wear anything from workout clothes, to business casual, to dance practice-wear, to dressed up for a date.  People typically dress up for parties.
SHOES - Dance shoes with a suede sole are preferred, but if you haven't gotten dance shoes yet, wear non-marking, supportive shoes without a rubber or "grippy" sole.
PERSONAL HYGIENE - People appreciate dancing with someone who is clean and fresh.  Mints and deodorant are your best friends.
When coming to our dances and events, those people who are clean, dressed up, and wearing a SMILE get asked to dance the most!

The best way to schedule lessons is to give us a call.  We can answer any other questions you may have, understand exactly what you're looking for and match you with the best instructor for you and your goals.  You can also click here to Schedule a Lesson Online.

Do you have children's classes?
plus icon

Yes, most of our classes are for adults (or children mature enough to not need supervision and individual direction during a class), however we do offer private lessons & dance team classes for children.  Private lessons are a great way for young people to gain body awareness, confidence, and poise.  Dancing is also interaction between two people where the student can interact with the opposite sex in a respectful and team-building manner.  The Dance Team offers structured classes for specific age groups and will give them a strong basis in the dances, lead/follow, and will be followed by a team performance.
