- Ballroom Dancing Instructors -

Amy began dancing Ballroom in 2001.  She has since dabbled in each of the dance communities,  Vintage Swing (Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Charleston), West Coast Swing, Latin Dancing (Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk) and Argentine Tango. Amy started her professional dance career in 2012 in Chicagoland. She has competed in American Smooth and International Standard. Along with her professional dance training, Amy holds a BA in Music Education with a Dance Minor and an Entrepreneurship Certificate from Youngstown State University

After managing one of the best studios in Columbus, Amy followed her dream to open her own studio to support the local dance communities and elevate the expectations of dance instruction to a higher level. Amy has a passion for creating connection with others through music and movement, and would love to share that passion with you!

David grew up singing and acting, but never tried dancing until Amy asked him to attend a ballroom dance with her on one of their first dates.  Since then David has been a part of the dance world as a supportive husband, encourager, confidant, and advisor.  David’s musical training and experience, as well as avid watching of Dancing with the Stars, has allowed him to advise and support dancers even more.    

In 2016 David graduated with his MBA  and is currently using those skills to enhance offerings and practices within the studio and guide The Crystal Ballroom to even more success. He is not only a strategic thinker, but has the natural ability to make great decisions on the fly. 

Cedric began his dancing journey in 2018 and has since become Fully Bronze and Silver Rhythm Certified Instructor through Dance Vision. He has competed professionally in Standard and Rhythm. Cedric’s dedication to strength training and bodybuilding transfers over to his dancing. Cedric has always had a passion for the arts and storytelling; having gone to school for film and was a Puppeteer’s Apprentice. When he is not dancing or teaching, he enjoys reading and writing. Cedric wants to help people to feel comfortable and stabilized when dancing so that they can better trust their bodies and enjoy the movement. Cedric believes that dance can tell stories and everyone has a story to tell. Naturally calm and patient, Cedric is always excited to share in anyone’s dancing journey.

Sophia joined the Crystal Ballroom Team in Fall of 2023.  Many of you may know Sophia as the shy girl who came to dances with her mom many years ago.  She is now an outspoken and outgoing addition to our team!  Sophia loves sharing dance with others and continuing to push her own goals forward. She is very driven and will not shy away from any challenge.  Sophia has her Dance Vision Bronze Smooth Certification and is working towards Rhythm next.  When not dancing Sophia spends her free time walking her cat in the park and teaching toddlers.

Josh joined the Crystal Ballroom Team in Fall of 2023.  Josh’s love of people and authentic joy in everything he does helps put students at ease and make their experience learning fun and upbeat!  Josh has his Dance Vision Bronze Smooth Certification and is working towards Rhythm next.  When not dancing Josh is an avid baker, enjoys meeting goals at the gym and spending time with family and friends!

Rachel Chilton grew up studying classical dance, taking ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical classes for 14 years. She competed for several years in high school with ballet solos and in group ballet and lyrical routines. Rachel quickly came to love LaBlast because the fitness program felt natural despite her lack of ballroom experience. She became certified as a LaBlast instructor and began teaching in 2020. Her favorite LaBlast style is Samba. Rachel is the newest member to the team and is excited to be sharing her passion for dance fitness with everyone!
