Alan Johns Celebration of Life, Spicy Sugar Push Class

Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Valentine's 80s Party!  What a party!  We sold out, and had an awesome time with photos by Tom (I'll share the photos in the next week or two, once we get them from Tom). We enjoyed dinner (thanks Corporate Caterers of Dublin), Sissi Thompson once again captured our imaginations and brought us back in time with her decor, Jerry Bean kept everyone up and dancing with his DJing, the Buckeye Bop Club was very supportive in joining us for this dance, and multiple thanks to the Crystal Ballroom Staff for creating the atmosphere and keeping the party going!  This was our biggest event since Valentine's Day 2020 (before the pandemic)!!!

We are currently casting for our Spring Showcase!

You could have a custom solo created for you, Participate in one of 4 Group Recital Numbers, or Show off your Current dances!!!  Which one sounds fun to you?

Men's Routine - Men In Black - guys let's look macho, and have fun with this Cha Cha inspired routine (sunglasses, black suit, white shirt, black tie)

Ladies Routine - Baby's Got her Blue Jeans On - Blue Jeans and cute top, this is a sexy fun twist on an old country song

Couples Routine -  Pocketful of Rainbows  - Sign up with a partner for this routine and make friends with the others in the studio as we put together a Rumba/Foxtrot

WCS Partnered Routine - Gold Digger - Sign up as an individual and dance a partnered West Coast Swing with everyone else!  This song screams gold chains and a hiphop type of feel.

Today West Coast Swing Spicy Sugar Push Class begins!!! (Mondays 7:45pm)

This class is great for all levels of dancers and will focus on the same step for a few weeks, while adding styling and variations!

On February 28th, we will be hosting a Celebration of life and Tribute Dance for Alan Johns.  He was a part of the dance community in Columbus for 40 years and from what I experienced in the last 11 years, if there was something dance-related happening, Alan was there!  His niece and nephew will be in town to share this time with us.  We'll be hosting a Celebration of Life from 6pm-8pm, then our dance that night will be a Tribute Dance to Alan Johns.

Set up a meeting with me this week to learn about all the ways you can be involved in our Spring Showcase!!  If you take private lessons you are encouraged to be part of this fun event, no judges, no commentary, just great performances, well thought out costumes and community building fun!

This week join us for group classes all week long, private lessons around your schedule Friday is our VIP Party and  Saturday evening is our fantastic weekly Ballroom Dance Party!
