Last Monday we were closed due to the Level II Emergency, therefore our Monday Medal classes have been pushed back a week!

I'd like to answer some questions for you this week...

What is a Showcase?

A showcase is an opportunity for everyone to participate, perform, make friends and be part of something.  

What are the 4 ways to be involved?

1. Learn a solo - dance with the partner of your choice and learn a short routine to give you practice expressing and dancing a particular dance, this can be a very personal therapeutic experience depending on what song you choose and the meaning for you.

2. Be part of a Group Performance - learn as a group and perform a fun routine.  There are typically a few levels of group classes that are created for everyone to enjoy!

3. Dance Heats - a heat is the opportunity to just show off what you've been learning in lessons and group classes in front of a group! :)  Pick 1 dance, or dance them all!

4. Spectate - enjoy watching all of your dance friends show off, perform, dance their hearts out, and enjoy the music and moment!

What does In-Studio Mean?

In-studio means that we will be hosting this event at The Crystal Ballroom, for our current dancers and those who want to come participate!

What is a Group Performance (or Formation)?

A group performance is one of the best ways to start making friends in the studio as you see the same faces for 12 weeks of class and learn a fun routine!

What does "Express the Rainbow" mean?

Express the Rainbow means that our theme for this showcase is COLORS!  Whether a song feels "red" to you and you want to express passion or angst, or perhaps the song talks about a "long cool woman in a black dress" and you're going to express that, or you have a purple costume that just looks great on you and you pick a song that fits that costume and you can theme it purple.  Even if you don't care about the color theme, we encourage all to participate!

Who should come to the Kickoff group class?

EVERYONE who likes dancing!  If you have taken 1 private lesson, or come to group classes during the week, or have been competing for years - you will enjoy this group class and learn all about being part of this showcase!  Come check it out!!!

What will I learn at the Kickoff Group Class?

You will learn how to express the colors of the rainbow PLUS all the details you want to know about the showcase.  What Group Numbers are being run?  How much does it cost?  Who can I dance with?

What are the benefits of being involved?

People who participate in showcases typically come out of it with more confidence, a sense of accomplishment, more friends, some great experiences and pictures and video of their achievements!

What's the best way to learn about the showcase?

Come on Thursday February 12th at 7:45pm to be part of the fun.

Why is this so important to Amy & the studio?

Showcases are a great way to help dancers of all levels achieve their next goals, increase confidence and be part of the team!  I love seeing each of you as you share your passion, expression, determination, and growth through these events!  The way to create community is to do events that stretch us all and give us opportunities to support each other!

Our Valentine's Party this year is a great big 80s Party.

No partner necessary, it's not about romance, it's about our rad community, dancing and loving the fun!  Wear neon, 80s outfits, or dress formal.  We are going to have a totally tubular time on February 14th!  Dinner is included, our instructors are here just like every Saturday, and the Buckeye Bop Club crew is joining us again (just like our Holiday Party)! Hustle with Buckeye Bop Club! - Starts Tuesday Feb 3rd at 7pm.

This class that doubles as a class with Buckeye Bop Club and our studio membership.  Learn Hustle throughout the month of February!  This class progresses throughout the month and perfect for those wanting to jump in full speed!

Waltz with Mid-Ohio Boogie Club! - Wednesday Feb 4th at 7pm.

Spencer is teaching this class that doubles as a class with MidOhio Boogie Club and our studio membership.  Learn Waltz throughout the month of February!  This class is great for all levels!

Best Dance Jams Group Class - Begins Thursday Feb 5th at 7pm!

Learn a mini-routine to 4 of the best dance jams on the planet! LI am excited to share fun, dance ideas and short choreo with each of you for each of these songs this month!  I know music in the inspiration to dance and many of you enjoy these 4 songs (Uptown Funk, Shut Up & Dance, Levitating, Jump Around) so let's learn how to dance to them!  No experience necessary, we'll all have fun and get grooving together (don't worry, this is still partner dance based!!)!

Bolero I Medal Class - Starts Monday February 9th at 6:15pm! (CHANGED START DATE DUE TO WEATHER LAST WEEK)

Learn from the same syllabus instructors study!  This class is our progressive class through the Medal series.  It includes 4 classes for each level and a PreReq test to qualify for the next level.  If you strive on structure, join our Medal classes!  It's $99 for a singular Medal Class (and also includes the Unlimited Crystal Membership)... only $149 for 2 Medal Classes, and $179 for 3 Medal Classes.

Express the Rainbow Group Class & Studio Showcase Kickoff Party! - Thursday Feb 12th at 7:45pm.

This complimentary class is a great way to experience dancing to the colors of the rainbow and learn if you want to be part of our community in-studio showcase.  Experience and express the colors of dance from hot red to cool blue and even some cheesy ones.  We are looking forward to the whole studio showing up to this class & kickoff!

This week join us for group classes all week long, private lessons around your schedule, West Coast Swing Night on Friday and don't miss our Amazing Saturday Night Party (preceded by an East Coast Swing Group Class)!
